We could eat cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each dish is melted with a fun fact. If you love cheese, a melty dish topped with your favorite variety is what comfortfood dreams are made of. Check out my list of 12 favorite cheesy dishes. If you haven't already tried them out. What the hell are you waiting for?

Pecan Praline Cheesecake With Caramel Sauce

The earliest version of cheesecake was an ancient Greek recipe called “plakountopoiikon suggramma”. Can you say that five times fast? I can’t so I'm sticking with “cheesecake”. Cheesecakes supposedly originated in ancient Greece and were even served to athletes at the first Olympic games. An ancient form of cheesecake may have been a popular dish in ancient Greece even prior to Romans' adoption of it with the conquest of Greece.

This cheesecake is a showstopper with its pretty wafer crust, creamy centre and the ooey-gooey Carmel-pecan topping cascading down the sides. Cheesecake is a sweet dessert consisting of one or more layers. The main, and thickest layer, consists of a mixture of soft, fresh cheese (typically cream cheese or ricotta), eggs, and sugar; if there is a bottom layer it often consists of a crust or base made from crushed cookies (or digestive biscuits), graham crackers, pastry, or sponge cake. It may be baked or unbaked.

Chicken/ Ham Cheese Quiches

Quiche is a savoury, open-faced pastry crust with a filling of savoury custard with cheese, meat, seafood, and/or vegetables. Quiche can be served hot or cold.

This versatile dish goes from brunch buffet to dinner table in a snap and is great with a leafy green salad. The flaky crust and custard filling make it a perfect vehicle for an array of mix-ins. Quiche can be served hot or cold. Quiche is considered a French dish, however custards in pastry were known in English cuisine at least as early as the 14th century. The word is first attested in English in 1805, borrowed from the French, itself first attested in 1605; the further etymology is uncertain but it may be related to the German kuchen meaning "cake" or "tart.

Cheese Pasta

First attested in English in 1874, the word pasta comes from Italian pasta, in turn from Latin pasta "dough, pastry cake", itself the latinisation of the Greek παστά (pasta) "barley porridge". Pasta is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine, with the first reference dating to 1154 in Sicily. It is also commonly used to refer to the variety of pasta dishes. Its instant pasta that can be made within ten minutes. Pasta is generally a simple dish, but comes in many varieties due to its versatility. So simple, yet delicious!

Chicken Cheese Lasagne

Lasagne is a wide, flat pasta shape and possibly one of the oldest. As with most other types of pasta, the word is a plural form, lasagne meaning more than one piece of lasagne ribbon. The word also refers to a dish made with this type of pasta in several layers interspersed with layers of various ingredients and sauces. Lasagne originated in Italy, in the region of Emilia-Romagna. Originally, in Italy, the word “lasagne” did not refer to a food (in fact, today, the food is still spelled “lasagne” as the plural form). The word “lasagne” referred to the pot in which the food was cooked. It is thought that the word “lasagne” for the pot is derived from the Greek word for “chamber pot.

Garlic Cheese Fries

Cheese fries are a fast food dish consisting of French fries covered in cheese. They are known as cheesy chips or chips and cheese in the united kingdom. Chilli cheese fries are French fries that are covered with chilli and cheese. They are a fast food favourite and are simply delicious. Of course as with all great dishes determining who it is that is responsible for the first ever is a bit difficult. Everyone wants to take credit for creating this tasty dish so tracking down the actual origin is hard. There are a few different origin stories. I do know that chilli cheese fries were being offered frozen as early as 1975.

Sweet Chilli And Pulled Pork Nachos

Nachos are a tex-mex dish from northern Mexico. The dish is composed of tortilla chips covered with cheese or cheese-based sauce, and is often served as a snack. More elaborate versions add more ingredients and can be served as a main dish. These loaded pulled pork nachos are super quick, super easy, and super duper tasty. November 6th is national nacho day. In Mexico nachos are called ‘totopos’. While new generations of chefs are putting their own spin on nachos, the appetizer has already stood the test of time. If you want to cut down on greasy food but aren’t ready to give up nachos, just make some adjustments. For a more diet-friendly snack, try baked tortilla chips, ground chicken, a small amount of cheese, and lots of vegetables.

Mushroom Mac And Cheese

This slightly wet dough, in conjunction with a hot pizza stone, produces a crisp yet chewy crust, the perfect canvas for bright homemade tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and verdant basil leaves. Margherita pizza (known in the USA simply as cheese pizza) is one of the simplest and yummiest pizzas out there. The margherita pizza gets its name from queen margherita of savoy who was queen in Italy from 1878 to 1900. Queen margherita and king umberto went for a visit to Naples, which is the birthplace of pizza (something that neapolitan people are quite proud of). A special pizza was made for her visit, aptly called pizza margherita.

Popular wisdom now holds that croque monsieur sandwiches were first served in 1910 .the French name croque monsieur translates to “crisp mister” and is basically a cooked cheese and ham sandwich, traditionally made with gruyere cheese and thinly sliced ham. The name is sometimes shortened to croque traditionally made with brioche-like bread pieces, or with normal butter bread, but with a soft crust, topped with grated cheese of the same type, slightly salted and peppered. The word fondue is the feminine passive past participle of the French verb fondre ("to melt") used as a noun. It is first attested in French in 1735. Fondue is a Swiss, Italian, and French dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot over a chafing stand heated with a candle or spirit lamp, and eaten by dipping bread into the cheese using long-stemmed forks. Cheese fondue consists of a blend of cheeses, wine and seasoning. Fondue is experiencing resurgence in a big way and we think this time it’s here to stay. If you want to know what to drink with fondue, there are two major camps: black tea vs white wine. Some say black tea is better for your digestion. Some say white wine is in the fondue already, why not also have a glass with the meal? April 11th is national cheese fondue day.
