Alcohol is often easy to overindulge. Drinking a glass of water after every glass of alcohol intake could keep you hydrated and do the trick. But hey who are we kidding, we forget to even if we aren't on a race to binge drinking. While the only way to cure a hangover is to drink in moderation, or avoid getting one altogether, there are a few hangover remedies to ease the head-pounding, body-aching regret we feel the next day. To avoid hangover related poor job performance and to ace your board room meeting the next morning, it’s best to sober up the smart way. While the research on this topic is limited and there's no one solution to fix all the symptoms of a hangover, a few things can help alleviate specific problems or even cure it! I've put together a list. These worked for me and I hope they do for you too. 1. Water : H2O is a must. During or after a night of excessive drinking, most of us will turn to water to quench our thirst, since our body is absolutely parched. While the thought of putting more liquid into your body may sound revolting, water can actually help. Typically, the negative symptoms of alcohol derive from the dehydration of the body.

2. Alcohol : To each their own right? Alcohol will provide a numbing effect, but all you're doing is prolonging the inevitable, and it will likely make your headache worse. So please don't try this unless you're a stubborn impatient person like me and want to shoot and recover the unhealthy way.

3. Buttered Toast and Greasy Foods: Although it has been said that 'toast soaking up the alcohol in your stomach' is a Myth. This does work and makes you feel better. Carbs can help bring your blood sugar levels back up the morning. According to Men's health magazine, Dr. Hall Flavin said and I quote, "Normally when blood sugar levels dip, your liver reacts by producing more glucose from stored carbs. But if you've been drinking too much, your liver is busy metabolizing the alcohol and can't handle the extra work, so your blood sugar levels stay down, and you can feel irritable and tired." Food helps slow the absorption of alcohol, and the longer it takes the alcohol to reach your blood stream, the longer it is until you become intoxicated

4. Eggs :Besides being an easily digested food that’s gentle on your stomach, eggs are packed with protein. Eggs are a toxin destroyer - Boom Boom Pow! Eating eggs the morning after provides energy like any other food, which is the primary benefit. But eggs do also contain large amounts of cysteine, the substance that breaks down the hangover-causing toxin acetaldehyde in the liver's easily depleted glutathione. Therefore, eggs can potentially help mop up the left-over toxins.

5. Coffee : caffeine is also a diuretic like alcohol and can make a drinker even more dehydrated than before, thereby increasing the severity of the hangover. Overall, coffee isn't a good hangover cure. THIS IS AND WAS A NO NO FOR ME!
6. Coconut Water: Another favorite is coconut water. It has loads of electrolytes and vitamins to restore what was lost the previous night. An added bonus of coconut water is that it’s more flavorful than regular water, which is helpful for people who have a hard time getting H2O down when they’re hung-over. (sports drinks do contain the electrolytes you need, but they also often contain ingredients like artificial food dyes.) A low-sugar coconut water, on the other hand, contains just as many electrolytes as Gatorade.

7. Green Tea: This drink is awesome. Green tea has a lot of anti-oxidants which clears you out. It will keep your body’s cells and organs healthy. This means a healthier liver, which will help you recover faster.

8. Tomato Juice: There’s a reason why people love drinking Bloody Marys the day after going on a bender. It’s rich in the vitamins, minerals and enzymes that booze robs your body of and it contains fructose with aids in metabolizing alcohol in your system. One way to stop the room from spinning is to imbibe some tomato juice mixed with a little cayenne pepper, sugar, and lime or you can add a couple of raw eggs for that protein punch. Spice things up with a dash of Worcestershire sauce and a pinch of black pepper, either way.

9. Bananas: Eating bananas the morning after a night of heavy drinking provides lost electrolytes like any food would, but it also specifically replenishes the potassium lost to alcohol's diuretic effect. Other potassium-rich foods such as kiwi fruit or sports drinks work just as well.

10. Sleep: Nothing is more holistic than doing nothing at all. Your body will eventually filter out all the bad stuff on its own. I know you feel like you are about to die a slow and painful death So why be awake for it? Get up, drink a glass of water and get your ass back in bed. Keep on repeating these steps. Wake up, Hydrate with H2O..... Sleep!
